Concert Commemorating 130th Anniversary of Xu Beihong’s Birth
is the first concert to bring Xu Beihong’s paintings to China’s symphonic music stage. The last two pieces
will have images of Xu Beihong’s masterpieces projected on the screen above the orchestra, showing the successful artistic integration of Jiang Wenye’s music with Xu Beihong’s paintings. Jiang Wenye, an outstanding composer in twentieth-century China, composed piano concerto Xu Beihong’s Color-And-Ink Paintings in 1964 for Xu Fangfang, Xu Beihong’s daughter. The music manuscript was discovered after half a century. Xu Fangfang will perform the China premiere of piano concerto Xu Beihong’s Color-And-Ink Paintings Movement III. Rooster Crowing in the Rain—Recalling Past Valor.
