Master Viewing Master—Xu Beihong and Qi Baishi Exhibition

Master Viewing Master—Xu Beihong and Qi Baishi is Xu Beihong Memorial Museum’s special exhibition upon its reopening.

Time: September 17, 2019 – November 29, 2019.

Hours: Open Tuesday – Sunday: 9:00 am – 4:30 pm. Admission is free, ID card or passport required.

Location: Temporary Exhibition Gallery, 4th floor of the Xu Beihong Memorial Museum.

The more than forty Chinese ink brush paintings and calligraphy by Xu Beihong and Qi Baishi include the two artists’ collection of each other’s works in the Xu Beihong Memorial Museum and the Beijing Painting Institute. Also included in the exhibition are works that both artists collaborated on and letters written between them. Side-by-side comparison shows the similarity and differences between the two artists portraying the same subject matter. The exhibition demonstrates how they supported each other in their innovative efforts to improve Chinese painting.
